Smith Hardware Auction
I almost forgot to report on the Smith Hardware auction that happened a while back. First, let me apologize for my bad information on the location of the auction. As I learned when I got there, the auction was not on the main street or in the lot behind, but was in the streets south and west from the store. Luckily, with Haxtun being so small, I just had to bend my ear toward the sound of the auctioneer over a loud speaker and follow it a few blocks!

I didn't stay long because there wasn't anything there that I was interested in . . . . go figure, it was a hardware auction! But I thought I'd show you some pictures of the event.

There were boxes lined up on tables. You could walk right up and inspect the contents of each box.

The auctioneer didn't stand at a podium, but instead walked along each table calling out the contents of the box and taking bids right there. See him in the picture above in red with the microphone?
Roy stayed longer than me and only spent $3! On a sink!

He was so proud!
