Haxtun Gun Club

Last Thursday night, I was treated to a nice supper at the annual meeting of the Haxtun Gun Club. I'm not actually a member, but I wanted to post them on my blog and what better form of multitasking than to eat supper while snapping pictures - and it was a good meal, too!

Like I said, I was at their annual meeting - in the picture they are collecting dues, I think.

The club is a small group of fellows who like to tease and joke. They shoot trap in the spring and fall (there's a place to shoot just outside of the clubhouse).

They lend their facilities out to various groups throughout the year, especially educational activities for kids. The facilities are several acres of land with a creek, fishing pond and windbreak. Plenty of places for kids to explore and learn.

I said earlier that this was a group of fellows, but there's at least one woman in the group - Diana! Her husband Cody is the one who invited me. They've known Roy all his life, although they never did get him to join the club (I told them there's still a chance). Cody has great plans for my darling daughter to join someday, too. I'm not a gun person myself, but I wouldn't mind having a straight-shootin' little girl! (Just hand me some earplugs and don't aim at any of our cats or poultry!)

So stop on by for a meeting if you're interested in joining!

Haxtun Gun Club

See map for clubhouse and facilities. Take County Rd 3 South from Highway 6 about a mile.

Cody wanted to show off the center pieces that he created for Christmas - A Cartridge in a Bare Tree. Ha, ha!

(My camera obviously had a hard time focusing on the little branch - sorry)
