Mommy & Me Photos
This last week I realized that I needed a new picture of myself with Melise for my column that I write for a couple of local papers (check them out here and here). I also need to update my facebook photo.
You know, I have thousands of pictures of Melise, but it's just not as easy to get a picture of the two of us together. First there's the problem that I'm always the one holding the camera. If there ever is an instance when someone else is holding the camera, the next problem is my slobbish mom appearance! If, by some miracle, I have my hair brushed while wearing an unstained shirt and we're in the presence of someone holding a camera . . . it's probably a chilly day in hell.
Anyhow, I realized that I would have to accomplish this enormous feat on my own. No problem, I thought, because my camera came with a remote control! But first I had to find it . . . that took about a day. Then I had to read the instructions on how to use it and take a lot of goofy practice shots. Next I had to wait for the right weather because the best lighting for a picture is always outside on an overcast day (Plus, I didn't want to have to clear a spot in my house just for this picture!).
Finally, an overcast day came. It was a little chilly, but I didn't mind getting a picture of us in sweaters. So I grabbed Melise, the camera, the tripod, and the remote. I set the camera up by a bench in our yard and took my first shot.
I caught Melise at a bad moment . . .

And then she found the remote and wanted to play with it . . .

And then someone else joined the picture. I wish Melise would look at the camera that way!

Even though I had completely lost control of this photo-shoot, I kept hitting the remote control to catch any cute moments between Melise and the chicken.
Melise can hear the camera shutter and is thinking, "What is that darn clicking noise?"

Good chicken!
Does the clicking never stop?
Finally the chicken left, but we weren't lonely because Franky decided to join us.
Darn, that would have been the perfect picture without him.
What picture did I finally settle on?

This was taken right after I shooed Franky off the bench. I think Melise was trying to say, "What did you do that for?" Oh well, it was the best us picture I could get!
And this picture is probably my favorite of the day. I think it's very frame-worthy!
