Haxtun Supers Grocery Store
This is our local grocery store, Haxtun Supers. It's bright and clean and full of fresh, yummy foods!
A lot of locals skip Haxtun Supers and go to the Super Walmart in Sterling - I'm afraid I'm just as guilty as anyone else. Walmart does have a little more selection, sometimes cheaper prices, and is in a place where other shopping can get done. However, Walmart is a 30 minute drive away, so Supers is a wonderful local resource to have if you're in desperate need of groceries! And you save gas by going local, too. Someone I know once said, "If you don't support them now, they might not be there when you need them later" (or something like that). I would like to see Supers continue to provide quick access to groceries for a long time to come!

I actually hesitated to put this on my blog because I was thinking, "Duh! Of course we have a grocery store! And it's right on the highway where everyone can see it!" But, you know, that is exactly the kind of attitude that doesn't help potential residents. If a person is thinking about moving to Haxtun there is no way for that person to know what we have and what we don't without visiting - and maybe they don't have the ability to visit before they move. Before I moved to Wall, SD (pop. ~ 800), I looked it up on the internet and found their wonderful chamber of commerce website with all the business listings and maps. If I hadn't had that website to reassure me that a small town can have all the amenities, I probably would have assumed that they were just a few houses along the interstate and I would never have dared to move there! Sharing information is very important tool - as much for a small town as it is for a metropolis!
