Quilt Show
| I am not a quilter and don't even plan to contemplate becoming one until my child (and all future children) are grown. BUT I do take pleasure in quilt shows! Lucky for me there are plenty around here to go to! There's one at the Phillips County Fair and one at the Haxtun Corn Festival, to name a couple (see calendar). | |
There are big ones and little ones.
This one closest to the end has doggy faces on it and paw prints quilted into it. It won best of show.
Isn't it beautiful how they hang the quilts out in the sun? I don't think there is any better light than sunlight to view all the colors and stitches. I also loved to see them playing in the wind, too.
I attended this show with Roy's mother, Kathy. She is an avid quilter. The quilt on the left in the picture above was done by the quilting club she belongs to, the High Plains Heritage Quilters. Each flower block was pieced by a different person in the club. This quilt will be raffled off at the Haxtun Corn Festival in September (see calendar). They make a different quilt each year to raffle off. They also do quilts for special occasions, such as the Haxtun Centennial Celebration last Saturday. And I believe they get together and have special classes and projects and such on a regular basis. Anyone interested in more info on this group just email me and I'll get you in touch with the right people.
PS Don't forget about my giveaway challenge!
