Giveaway!
Wheat harvest is imminent and to celebrate we thought we'd give a little gift away . . . one pound of wheat berries! A freshly-harvested bag of wheat berries right off the farm - aren't you excited?
Wheat berries, just so you know, are the kernel of wheat. Its made up of the bran, germ and endosperm. The endosperm is what is normally used for white flour, but when you use all three together you're using the whole grain! (more info on wheat)
You might be asking yourself, what do you do with a pound of wheat berries? Well, if you like, we can grind it into flour for you (or you can grind it yourself if you have a grain mill) and then you can cook all sorts of whole wheat items with it (very healthy!). You can sprout the wheat the way you would sprout alfalfa. You can feed it to the birds. You can store it in your bomb shelter so that you can survive the fall of civilization . . . I'm sure you'll think of something.
Now, the way this works. If you want a chance to win the wheat you'll have to email me at susan@ourhaxtunlife.com. And we have to add a challenge to this, right? I was thinking I'd chose one email randomly, but that's really boring. SO, I'll pick the winner who gives me the best answer to this question: What will you do with your wheat? Impress me with a mouth-watering recipe or with a creative project and you just might be the lucky winner!
Okay you have till the end of July. That'll give you enough time to think up something and me enough time to figure out this process . . . Good luck!
